Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 28, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how ScreenLink ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use our website, screen recorder, and related services (the "Service"). By using the Service you agree to this policy.
1. Information we collect
Account information
When you create an account we collect your email address and authentication identifiers. If you sign in with a third-party provider, we receive the basic profile fields that provider shares.
Recordings & content
When you record with ScreenLink, the resulting video file, optional title, description, and thumbnail are uploaded to our storage so you can play and share them. You decide what to capture and what to share — we do not access your camera, microphone, or screen unless you actively start a recording.
Usage data
We collect technical information such as IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited, and timestamps. This helps us secure the Service and improve performance.
Cookies
We use strictly necessary cookies for authentication and session management. We may use limited analytics cookies to understand aggregate usage.
2. How we use information
- To provide, maintain, and improve the Service.
- To authenticate users and prevent abuse or fraud.
- To host, deliver, and play back your recordings.
- To communicate with you about your account or the Service.
- To comply with legal obligations.
3. Sharing & disclosure
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with:
- Infrastructure providers (hosting, storage, authentication, analytics) acting as our processors under contract.
- Anyone you choose to share a recording link with — public links are accessible to anyone who has the URL.
- Authorities, when required by law or to protect rights, safety, or the integrity of the Service.
4. Data retention
We retain your account and recordings until you delete them or close your account. You can delete a recording at any time from your dashboard; deletions are processed promptly.
5. Security
We use industry-standard safeguards including encryption in transit, access controls, and row-level security on our database. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live (e.g. EEA, UK, California), you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Contact us to exercise these rights.
7. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect data from children.
8. International transfers
Your information may be processed in countries other than your own. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, by additional notice.
